For the first time in a generation Harrow has two new Green Flag accredited parks.
Harrow now has eight Green Flag parks up from six.
Last month it was confirmed that both Chandos Recreation Ground in Edgware and the Riverside Park in Hatch End achieved Green Flag status for the first time.
They join Harrow’s existing Green Flag parks (Kenton Recreation Ground, Pinner Memorial Park, Canons Park, Harrow Recreation Ground, Headstone Manor Park and Roxeth Recreation Ground) all of which retained their Green Flag status when inspected this year.
As part of our mission to Restore Pride in Harrow, we have invested £6 million into our parks. This money is upgrading our parks to be more attractive for local people to enjoy. We are also working through a programme of renewing many of the children’s playgrounds in our parks so that they are fun for our children.
Cllr Janet Mote, the Cabinet Member responsible for Community & Culture, said:
"I am absolutely delighted that we’ve not only retained our six award winning parks, but we’ve gained two new ones. It’s come at a perfect time as we mark 60 years of Harrow. I know this will mean a lot to our residents who love using our parks."
For the next year we will be focusing on investing in more local parks so that we can achieve at least one more Green Flag award next year.
This will mean that, by 2026, there will be a record nine Green Flag Parks in Harrow, the most this borough has ever had.
