Harrow’s Conservative Council has invested a further £270,000 into street cleaning services and expanded enforcement services.

This comes as part of our plan to create neighbourhood-based cleaning teams who will get to know their local communities and learn where the problem areas are.

To continue our fight against fly-tipping the Conservative leadership has also expanded the enforcement team to hunt down and prosecute those who dump their rubbish in our streets, parks and green spaces.

Last year we issued 1,147 fines for fly-tipping as well as increasing the fine to £1,000.

Cllr Pritesh Patel, Cabinet Member for Cleaner Streets and Public Safety, said:

“Everyone wants cleaner and safer streets. It’s one of the things residents always tell me about.

That’s why we’ve invested £270,000 into street cleansing and expanded our enforcement team to find and fine those dumping waste illegally. It’s part of Harrow Conservatives plan to restore pride in Harrow. And our new neighbourhood-based street cleansing approach means our street cleaners know their local area and can address issues quickly.

Fines for littering and fly-tipping have also increased to help deter these people from making our borough dirty. And we’ve also launched a wall of shame to find those making our neighbourhoods dirty and unsafe.

We can’t do this alone. We need your help to identify those fly-tipping, and to report street cleansing issues through the Council’s website so the street cleaning teams can take the action.”
