Harrow Conservatives have begun a trial of bigger bins in a number of local parks to reduce littering.
We have introduced the 1,100 litre bins in Queensbury Park, Pinner Memorial Park, Harrow Weald Recreation Ground, Harrow Recreation Ground, Roxeth Recreation Ground, Canons Park, Viewpoint, Lowlands/Grove Fields, Headstone Manor, Kenton Recreation Ground, Centenary Park and Roxbourne Park.
These new bins are 4.5 times larger than the standard park bins.
We hope that this will reduce littering at peak times, like weekends and school holidays, which previously led to park bins overflowing, causing litter to spread around our parks.
The bigger bins are being trialled this summer and we are making adaptations to the scheme as and when issues arise.
If successful, we will look to roll out more of the 1,100 litre bins in those 12 parks and to other parks and green spaces across Harrow. Our local parks and green spaces are the jewel in Harrow’s crown; we are working hard to keep them clean and tidy.
