Harrow’s Conservative Council has announced extra funding to improve local roads and expand street cleaning operations, as well as freezing the garden waste charge.
Conservative councillors have doubled the budget for resurfacing roads from £6m to £12m. In addition to this, a further £2m has been allocated to expand the number of pothole repairs.
This means a combined total of £14 million will be spent on our roads each year for the next 3 years, totalling £42 million by 2028.
The budget for street cleaning will be boosted by £868K. This comes on top of a £270K funding increase implemented last year, meaning a combined increase of £1.1 million.
Conservative councillors are working hard to make Harrow cleaner, with the fine for fly-tipping increased to £1,000 and the number of fines issued for fly-tipping up by over 800% compared to when Labour ran the Council.
Unlike nearly every other London Council, we are not increasing the garden waste charge this year. Harrow has gone from having one of the highest garden waste charges in London to one of the lowest.
Harrow Conservatives are delivering value for money and putting residents first.
