This month Harrow’s Conservative Council relaunched the general enquiries phone line, making it easier for residents to get in touch with the Council.
Harrow’s call centre was closed in 2020/21 by the previous Labour administration, who wanted to shift all public interactions with the Council to the website.
In the 2022 Harrow Council elections, Conservative councillors pledged to restore the call centre and make it more accessible for residents to speak to a human being when they have an issue with Council services.
After prudent financial management, which allowed the Council to build up the funding required to reopen the phone line, we were pleased to launch the general enquires phone line this month. Later in the year we also aim to open a dedicated Resident Access Centre in Gayton Road, which will enable local people to speak face to face with staff to deal with Council issues.
Call centre number: 020 8863 5611
The phoneline will be operational Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
Cllr Stephen Greek, Cabinet Member for Performance, Communications & Customer Experience said:
“Our priority is to put our residents first and make it easier to contact the council. Our dedicated phone line means residents can now speak to someone directly and get the help they need, faster. It’s part of our plans to improve our customer experience and making council services more accessible to everyone in Harrow.
It’s still quick and easy to do most things online, but if you’re unable to find what you need online you can call our contact centre. We’ll continue to look at ways to enhance our services to ensure residents get the service they deserve and at a high standard.”
