Harrow Council’s first localised recycling event took place in the Cambridge Road car park, North Harrow, and was attended by many local people.

‘Drop & Go’ local recycling events are a new initiative from the Conservative Council where the Council’s waste team visit neighbourhood centres and allow residents to drop off bulky waste and other rubbish.

These events will take place monthly and will be in a different part of the borough each time.

The first event in North Harrow took place on Saturday 17th May between 10am and 2pm and over 7 tonnes of rubbish was dropped off by local residents.

This scheme is part of our wider strategy to make it easier for local people to dispose of this waste lawfully and reduce fly-tipping.

Welcoming the new scheme, Cllr Stephen Greek, Cabinet Member for Performance, Communications & Customer Experience, said:

“We’re helping residents do the right thing when it comes to waste and recycling. We’ve recently doubled the number of bulky waste bookings, and now we’re going further by taking the recycling centre into the community.

During out ‘Drop & Go’ events, residents will also get to take food waste bins and bio bags, as well as information and advice on good waste management.”
